I have a few of my students who are having problems learning their "teen" numbers. Therefore I decided that we would make "teenagers" 11-19. We discussed what teenagers looked like, acted like, etc. Luckily I work in a K-8 school and we have 8th grade helpers that come in twice a week! I had the students work in pairs and create a "teenager". Then I had them write books about what their "teenager" liked to do. They turned out great! I hung the teenagers over our numbers, and placed the books in our Reading Center. I am interested in seeing if this works!
